Resumo

Webtoon é um formato de história em quadrinhos nativo da web, que vem ganhando popularidade nos últimos anos, desde que grandes editoras coreanas passaram a traduzir seus webtoons oficialmente para o inglês. Este trabalho visa criar um romance original no formato Webtoon, de forma a explorar suas particularidades de fluxo de leitura e sua narrativa diferenciada. Para encontrar a melhor forma de unir texto e imagens, este trabalho foi conduzido de forma a ser complementado bibliograficamente por obras de diversos ramos das artes que contam histórias. Uma vez que o projeto foi realizado sem colaborações artísticas, o processo criativo foi concentrado numa única pessoa, permitindo assim um maior entendimento dos desafios da criação de webtoons que é caracterizada por publicações frequentes. Nesse cenário, ferramentas como o Clip Studio Paint e os métodos de enredo e roteiro de Snyder e Stan Lee foram fundamentais para a concretização do projeto, permitindo maior dinamicidade em suas criações. Enfim, todas as experiências práticas desse projeto foram dispostas de forma a auxiliar futuros quadrinistas abrindo precedentes para mais estudos sobre o formato Webtoon.

Webtoon is a digital native comic format that has seen a growth in popularity in the last few years, since some big Korean publishers started to translate their webtoons officially to English. This thesis aims to create an original love story in the webtoon format, so it can explore its reading flow and its different storytelling. To find the best way of uniting text and image, this thesis has been conducted in a way to be bibliographically backed by a diverse segment of storytelling arts’ books. Since the project has been carried without the collaboration of other artists, the whole creative process was concentrated on a single person, allowing her a better understanding of the challenges of frequent publishing a webtoon series creates. With this in mind, tools like the Clip Studio Paint software and the narrative methods of scriptwriting by Snyder and Stan Lee were fundamental to the realisation of this project, allowing a better dynamicity in its creation. At last, all the practical experiences of this project were disclosed in a way to assist the future comic writers, setting precedents for the future of more studies of the webtoon format.
